Director
Brad Balog started teaching in 2000 and has spent his entire career at Lafayette High School where he teaches Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and Jazz Ensemble. In addition, Mr. Balog also instructs the Lancer Regiment marching band, Home Court Advantage basketball band, and the musical’s pit orchestra. He also assists with Beginning Band at Rockwood Valley Middle School.
Mr. Balog earned a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Arts in Conducting, and a Master of Arts in Education from Truman State University. He is a member of NAfME, MBA, Phi Beta Mu, Phi Mu Alpha, and currently serves as the past-president of St. Louis Suburban MMEA District 5. Mr. Balog has been recognized as a 2021-2022 Rockwood School District ROSE (Rockwood Outstanding Service in Education) Award recipient and as the 2025-2026 Rockwood School District Teacher of the Year.
Assistant Director
Andrew Reader was born and raised in St. Charles, MO and attended Francis Howell High School. He attended Missouri State University for his undergraduate degree where he performed in the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Pride Marching Band, and numerous other ensembles. After earning the Bachelor of Music Education degree from MSU in 2019, Andrew spent two years as an Assistant Band Director for the Neosho School District. Wanting to pursue higher education, he returned to Missouri State to pursue a Masters in Wind Band Conducting and serve as a Graduate Assistant for the MSU Band Program. Andrew will graduate in May 2023 and begin his new position with the Lafayette High School and Crestview Middle School band program. Along with teaching public school, Andrew also teaches Drum Corps International in the summers. He has served on the brass staff for The Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps in Casper, Wyoming since 2021, and newly serves as the Brass Caption Head for The Battalion Drum and Bugle Corps in Salt Lake City, UT.
Percussion Director
My name is Kevin Lowe, Assistant Band Director and Percussion Director of Lafayette High School and Rockwood Valley Middle School. I received my Bachelor of Music Education with a Percussion Performance Diploma from Missouri State University and my Masters in Music Education from the University of Missouri St. Louis. My wife Jessica and I have two sons, Harvey (8) and Oliver(4) along with our dog and bird, Ruby and Oscar. My work as a percussion composer, instructor, and judge for many programs and festivals around Missouri has been my life’s passion along with being the best father I can be. I am beyond excited to be joining the staff here at Lafayette High School and can’t wait to get rolling on the music we will be working on next year!
